The Germantown District Court handles lower-level civil matters. It does not hold Circuit Court records. If you are looking for a contract dispute, civil judgment, or divorce filing, those are Circuit Court matters and the records are in Rockville, not Germantown. Searching Germantown Civil Court Records Online
The free Maryland Judiciary Case Search tool covers Montgomery County and is the primary way to search Germantown civil court records online. The tool is updated nightly and includes all 24 Maryland jurisdictions in one search interface.
Since December 2021, the default search requires an exact name match. Add a percent sign (%) after a name to run a partial match search. This is useful when you are dealing with a common surname or an unusual spelling. Search results show the case type, filing date, party names, and current status. You will not see the actual court documents through this tool. Full records require a formal request to Central Files at the Circuit Court.
Montgomery County civil records in the Case Search system go back to 1978. This is a significant advantage for searching older civil matters. Many other Maryland counties have earlier online cutoff dates, but Montgomery's records reach further back than most. Case types you may see include CT for civil tort, CC for civil contract, CJ for civil judgment, and DA or DL for divorce matters.
Maryland is upgrading its public access system through the MDEC project, with a new portal launching in March 2026. Montgomery County is part of this rollout. The updated system is expected to expand online document access beyond what the current Case Search summaries provide.

Getting Copies of Germantown Civil Court Records
