Allegany County Overview
Search Allegany County Civil Court Records Online
The Maryland Judiciary Case Search is the main tool for finding Allegany County civil court records online. It is free to use and covers all 24 Maryland jurisdictions, including Allegany County. You can search by party name, case number, filing date, or case type. The system is updated each night, so it reflects filings from the prior business day. Go to casesearch.courts.state.md.us to start a search.
One thing to know before you search: since December 7, 2021, the system defaults to exact name matching. If you search "Smith" you will only get exact matches. To cast a wider net, add a percent sign at the end of the name, like "Smith%". This tells the system to return any name that starts with those letters. That trick is useful when you are not sure of a full spelling. Case Search shows summaries and docket entries, but it does not show document images. To view the actual papers in an Allegany County civil case, you need to visit the clerk's office or request copies by mail.
A new Case Search and Record Portal launched on March 14, 2026. This updated platform may offer additional search options compared to the prior system. If you have used the old Case Search before, the process is similar but the interface has changed. Both the old and new systems pull from the same court database covering Allegany County civil cases.
Note: Civil records in Case Search for Allegany County go back to June 2, 1997, with criminal records starting September 7, 1999.
